Participation in the 2nd stakeholders meeting of INNOVA-FI project
A representative of the Chamber of Craft and Small Business of Slovenia (CCSBS) participated at the 2nd stakeholders meeting of INNOVA-FI project. The meeting was held on 20 May 2019 in Ljubljana organised by Innova-FI Slovenian partner, Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy (GODC). The main emphasis of the meeting was to search synergies between different projects, addressing innovation and financing in green sectors, and stakeholders from the public financial sector. Innova-FI aims to review the existing financial instruments designed to finance innovation in small and medium-sized enterprises and propose improvements in the policies for the design of such instruments.
During the meeting finMED was presented by CCSBS, giving an overview of the project’s aims, expected results and planned activities. finMed and Innova-Fi are covering similar topics, so there is an opportunity for complementary activities such as exchanging information in the field of financial instruments, organization of joint events, developing common policy recommendations.
During the meeting the stakeholders drafted certain conclusions which can be summarized as follows:
1. Some neighbouring EU countries have introduced FIs, where they involved institutionalized investors
2. The future focus should be placed on revolving funds (particularly equity and quasi capital)
3. Based on last discussions with the EC, Slovenia can be compared with the most of EU member states in terms of FIs diversity
4. EC recommends to introduce FIs that could cover investments in renewable energy.
